Good ventilation is just as important in commercial buildings as it is in our homes. Ventilation plays a key role in creating healthy, comfortable spaces for the people using them every day including spaces such as offices, schools, warehouses, or restaurants.

Commercial buildings often have large numbers of people occupying the same space for long periods of time. Without a continuous supply of new air, carbon dioxide, odours and other airborne pollutants can build up, resulting in uncomfortable indoor environments.

As a general guide, commercial buildings are typically designed based on either an Air Change Rate, measured in air change per hour (ACH), or based on occupancy levels, measured at 10 litres per second per person (l/s). It doesn’t.

Whilst air conditioning helps control temperature, it doesn’t introduce new air into a building. Ventilation and air conditioning can often work together in tandem, but they perform very different roles. One keeps occupants cool, while the other ensures they’re breathing new, healthy air.
